Think of a couple we’ll call Tunde and Bisi, who moved from Lagos to Houston with their two children. Since moving into a new rented house, their seven-year-old wakes up crying in the night, they argue more than they used to, and family prayer has slipped to “when we can”. A relative sent a “protection” package to bury at the entrance. A friend said they needed to pay a prophet to cleanse the house.
They did neither. They started with themselves, asking each other’s forgiveness. They walked through the house room by room, praying with Scripture. They kept the tablet downstairs after dinner, put Psalm 4:8 by their son’s bed and mentioned the nightmares to his doctor.
The nightmares did not stop overnight, but over the following weeks they became less frequent. “It wasn’t dramatic,” Bisi said. “But something changed in the house.”
