If you are looking for a prayer against spiritual wife attacks, you may be a man who keeps having troubling dreams, or a wife, mother or sister praying for a man you love. Either way, you are welcome here. This guide gives you a short explanation of what believers mean by a “spiritual wife,” the KJV Bible verses to stand on, a full prayer you can pray aloud, 21 prayer points, a simple 7-night plan and honest advice on health and safe ministry.
Many ministers in Nigeria, Ghana and across the diaspora describe a “spiritual wife” as a spirit that claims a man in a counterfeit marriage, often through dreams of intimacy or a wedding. If you are not sure whether this describes you, read our guide to the signs of spiritual wife in a man first, and our pillar page What Is a Spiritual Spouse? for the bigger picture. Here we focus on prayer.

Before You Pray: What a Prayer Against Spiritual Wife Is (and Isn’t)
The phrase “spiritual wife” is not found in the Bible. It is a term used in African and Caribbean Christian teaching to describe a particular kind of spiritual oppression. The Bible does, however, speak plainly about the spiritual battle every believer faces: “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers” (Ephesians 6:12). It also speaks plainly about the victory of Jesus.
So a prayer against a spiritual wife is not a magic formula, and it is not about shouting louder than the enemy. It is a believer, or someone praying for him, coming to God through Jesus Christ and asking Him to break every claim that darkness has made. Three truths shape every prayer in this guide:
- You belong to God. “Ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s” (1 Corinthians 6:19–20).
- The cross has already won. Jesus blotted out the handwriting that was against us, “nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it” (Colossians 2:14–15).
- Freedom is lived out daily. Prayer works hand in hand with repentance, a clean life, a healthy church family and, where needed, medical and emotional care.
Bible Verses to Use in Prayer Against Spiritual Wife (KJV)
Before praying, read these verses aloud. Many men find it helpful to write them on a card and keep it by the bed.
- John 8:36 – “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
- 1 John 3:8 – “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.”
- Luke 10:19 – “Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”
- James 4:7 – “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
- 2 Corinthians 10:4–5 – “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; casting down imaginations… and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.”
- 2 Corinthians 5:17 – “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
- Psalm 51:10 – “Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.”
- Hebrews 13:4 – “Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled.”
- Proverbs 18:22 – “Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.”
- Romans 8:1 – “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”
- Psalm 4:8 – “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.”
- Galatians 5:1 – “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”
Hebrews 13:4 and Proverbs 18:22 matter especially for men. God’s answer to a counterfeit marriage in the spirit is not fear of marriage but honour for real, covenant marriage. For a longer list of Scriptures, see our Bible verses about spiritual husband and spiritual spouse.
How to Prepare Your Heart
Prayer is strongest when it comes from a heart that is honest with God. Take a few minutes for these simple steps before you begin.
- Make sure you belong to Christ. If you have never personally trusted Jesus as your Saviour and Lord, start there. Every other prayer stands on that foundation.
- Confess honestly. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). Name anything you know of: pornography, sexual sin, occult involvement, charms or visits to shrines.
- Forgive. Release anyone who hurt you, including family members whose choices may have affected you.
- Make a covenant with your eyes. Job said, “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?” (Job 31:1). A prayer at night will struggle against a phone full of lust by day. Many men describe a pull toward sexual sin alongside these dreams; if a sexual past or old soul ties are part of your story, Unholy Covenants walks through closing those doors step by step.
- Choose a quiet time. Many believers like to pray just before bed or in the night watch, but God hears you at any hour.

A Prayer Against Spiritual Wife (Pray Aloud)
Pray this slowly and sincerely. If you are praying for your husband, son or brother, use “he” and “his” instead of “I” and “my.”
Heavenly Father, I come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Thank You that I am bought with a price and that my body, soul and spirit belong to You. I confess my sins, especially every sexual sin and every way I have opened a door to darkness, and I receive Your forgiveness through the blood of Jesus.
In the name of Jesus, I renounce every spiritual marriage, covenant, dedication or agreement made over my life, by me or by anyone else, knowingly or unknowingly. I reject every so-called spiritual wife and every claim she makes over my body, my sleep, my finances and my future marriage. I declare that Jesus nailed every handwriting against me to His cross and triumphed over every principality and power.
Lord, I submit myself to You, and I resist the devil. Every spirit that claims me as husband, leave me now in the name of Jesus. I return every ring, gift, food or token received in a dream. I belong to Christ alone.
Holy Spirit, fill me afresh. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me. Heal my desire, my relationships and my sense of worth. Prepare me to love a wife as Christ loved the church, and bless the marriage You have for me, or the one I already have. Tonight I will lay me down in peace and sleep, for You, LORD, make me dwell in safety. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
21 Prayer Points Against Spiritual Wife
You do not need to pray all 21 at once. Choose three to five each night, or follow the 7-night plan below. For prayers on the wider subject, see our main prayers against spiritual husband and spiritual spouse.
Prayer Points for Cleansing and Covenant
- Father, thank You that if the Son makes me free, I am free indeed (John 8:36).
- Lord, I confess my sins and receive cleansing in the blood of Jesus (1 John 1:9).
- I renounce every covenant, vow or dedication that links me to any spirit, in Jesus’ name.
- Every agreement made by my parents or ancestors that touches my marriage, I place under the blood of Jesus (Galatians 5:1).
- Lord, as You blotted out the handwriting that was against me, let every hidden record against my life be cancelled (Colossians 2:14).
- My body is the temple of the Holy Ghost; I dedicate it to God alone (1 Corinthians 6:19–20).
- Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me (Psalm 51:10).

Prayer Points for the Night and for Dreams
- Lord, I lay me down in peace, for You make me dwell in safety (Psalm 4:8).
- Every dream of a counterfeit wedding or intimacy, I reject and cancel in Jesus’ name.
- Every ring, food, money or gift received in a dream, I return it and refuse it.
- Holy Spirit, guard my mind while I sleep and bring every thought captive to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5).
- I receive power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy (Luke 10:19).
- Lord, give me a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind, not fear (2 Timothy 1:7).
- Whatever has been bound against my life in the night, Lord, let it be loosed by Your authority (Matthew 18:18).
Prayer Points for Marriage, Desire and Destiny
- Father, I honour marriage and keep the marriage bed undefiled; let every counterfeit marriage be broken (Hebrews 13:4).
- Lord, restore healthy desire and tenderness in me, and heal every area of shame.
- If I am single, lead me to find a wife and to obtain favour from the LORD (Proverbs 18:22).
- If I am married, teach me to love my wife as Christ loved the church and to rejoice with the wife of my youth (Ephesians 5:25; Proverbs 5:18).
- Every pattern of relationships collapsing near commitment, I lay it before You, Lord; turn it around for Your glory.
- Lord, contend with him that contendeth with me, and save my children (Isaiah 49:25).
- I stand fast in the liberty with which Christ has made me free, and I will not be entangled again with the yoke of bondage (Galatians 5:1). In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A Simple 7-Night Prayer Plan
If you prefer structure, here is a gentle plan. Spend 20 to 30 minutes each night with your Bible and a notebook.
- Night 1 – Surrender. Read Psalm 51 and pray points 1–3.
- Night 2 – Cleansing. Read 1 Corinthians 6 and pray points 4–7.
- Night 3 – Peace at night. Read Psalm 4 and Psalm 91, then pray points 8–10. Our guide to prayer against bad dreams has short prayers for when you wake in the night.
- Night 4 – Authority. Read Luke 10:17–20 and pray points 11–14.
- Night 5 – Marriage. Read Ephesians 5:22–33 and pray points 15–18.
- Night 6 – Future. Read Isaiah 49:24–26 and pray points 19–20.
- Night 7 – Thanksgiving. Read Colossians 2, pray point 21 and spend the rest of the time thanking God.

Praying for Your Husband, Son or Brother
Many of the messages we receive come from women praying for a man they love. If that is you, thank you for standing in the gap. A few words of wisdom:
- Pray more than you talk. Avoid accusing him or labelling him. Share this page gently if he is open.
- Pray with him if he agrees. Praying together, even briefly, can be a turning point. If he is not ready, pray quietly for him.
- Look after the marriage. Kindness, honest conversation and, where needed, Christian marriage counselling are part of the answer, not a lack of faith.
- Keep him safe. Never pressure him into risky rituals or expensive “deliverance.”

Health, Wisdom and Safe Ministry
Spiritual care and practical care belong together. Low desire, erection difficulties or very poor sleep can have medical causes, including stress, hormones, blood pressure and some medicines. The NHS explains common causes of loss of libido, and waking up unable to move is often sleep paralysis, which a doctor can help with. If past abuse or relationship pain surfaces, a Christian counsellor can help; the APA has a useful overview of healthy relationships. And if you ever feel hopeless or think about harming yourself, please contact a mental-health professional or emergency services straight away.
Sadly, some people exploit men and women who are desperate. Jesus said, “freely ye have received, freely give” (Matthew 10:8). Please walk away from anyone who:
- Demands money, “seed” or costly items before they will pray for you
- Sends you to bathe in a river, sea or shrine, or gives you charms and concoctions
- Asks you to undress or meet them alone at night
- Promises a guaranteed wife, child or breakthrough by a date
- Tells you to stop medical treatment or keep the ministry secret from your family and church
Frequently Asked Questions
Can a man pray against a spiritual wife by himself?
Yes. Every believer can call on the Lord in Jesus’ name and resist the devil (James 4:7). It is still wise to ask a trusted pastor or mature believer to pray with you and keep you accountable.
What is the best Bible verse against a spiritual wife?
There is no single “magic” verse, but John 8:36, Colossians 2:14–15 and 1 Corinthians 6:19–20 are a strong foundation: you are free in Christ, the cross has triumphed, and your body belongs to God.
How long should I pray against a spiritual wife?
There is no fixed timetable. Some men describe a sense of release quickly; for others, freedom grows over weeks of prayer and changed habits. Be patient and keep going. For a fuller step-by-step approach, see how to break spiritual marriage.
Can a wife pray against her husband’s spiritual wife?
Yes. Scripture encourages us to “pray one for another” (James 5:16). Pray with love and respect, invite him to pray with you if he is willing, and look after your marriage at the same time.
Is a prayer against spiritual wife different from one against a spiritual husband?
The principles are the same for men and women: faith in Christ, repentance, renunciation and a renewed life. Women may find our guide to deliverance from spiritual husband helpful.
Final Encouragement
Brother, you are not too far gone, and you do not have to buy your freedom. “If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Pray tonight, tell one trusted believer what you are facing, and take the next step.
